By Lynn VanDyke Consumers may soon be able to purchase a brand new over the counter weight loss pill. Federal health advisors have already given their go ahead, but it still needs FDA approval before it goes on sale nationwide. GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare is in position to offer this fat blocking pill to the public. They are shooting for a release date by the end of this year. Consumers want to know if this is ground breaking news or if this is another attempt to rob them of their hard earned cash. The difference between this new diet pill, called orlistat and currently being sold with a doctor's prescription as Xenical, and several others from the past are that orlistat is garnering nationwide media and public interest. "Everyone is getting excited about taking a magic pill," states Lynn VanDyke, elite personal fitness professional and fitness nutritionist. "It all sounds brilliantly simple until we read about its side effects and cost." In 6 month clinical trials, obese people taking orlistat lost 5.3 - 6.2 pounds more than those given a placebo. Representatives from GlaxoSmithKline also announced that at $12-$25 per week for the pill over 5 million people in America would buy the drug if it sold over the counter. VanDyke explains, "The corporations are planning on making over $1 billion per year in sales if orlistat is sold over the counter. As consumers we must educate ourselves and hold ourselves personally responsible. This drug has shown unpleasant side effects in half of the trial participants. That's just outrageous." GlaxoSmithKline lists orlistat's possible side effects as loose and oily stools, gas, incontinence and oily spotting. Even the FDA panel members are concerned with how this diet pill will interact with diabetics, bulimics, organ transplant patients and those taking other prescription pills. Watchdog groups such as Public Citizen urged the panel to reject the company's application, calling it a "desperate attempt to revive this barely effective drug by an OTC switch." "All in all, the magic pill leaves you bloated and oily. It stops working once you stop taking it. That adds up to between $288 and $600 per 6 months. That is how long the GlaxoSmithKline recommends taking this pill before stopping for a break. I would much rather learn a few simple tools on how to eat well and live a healthy life than take this so-called miracle pill," says VanDyke. Consumers who are in dire straits to lose fat but are concerned with the side effects and cost of orlistat are being referred to the Melt the Fat Interactive Guide (more info at http://melt-the-fat.com

Silicone Breast Implants Revived by FDA
By Frank Vanderlugt On July 28 2005, the FDA issued a letter of approval to Mentor Corp ending the the thirteen year old ban on silicone-gel breast implants. This move came about as Mentor Corp. persuaded the FDA that its newer silicone implants are less dangerous and more durable than older versions. The company will employ these implants only under the following strict safety conditions approved by the FDA. - Prospective patients must sign a consent form acknowledging that they realise the risks of a silicone breast implant including the fact that they could break and need replacement or removal. - Mentor is only allowed to sell silicone breast implants to board-certified plastic surgeons who complete a successful practical training program to learn how to insert these implants in a way that minimizes the odds of breakage. - Mentor must produce and maintain a registry to track the implant patients long term results. - Patients must be educated about the fact that if an implant breaks, the effect of the breakage typically doesn't cause immediate symptoms. Further it is advised to have an MRI after 5 years and 2 years thereafter to check for breakage. - Mentor must conduct a ten year study to determine the percentage of breast implants that will break in that time. - The study must be reviewed by an independent committee. - The results of Mentor's breast implant program will be reviewed by the FDA in 5 years to verify that the implants are performing as expected. According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, 334,052 breast augmentations were performed in the United States in 2004 - the vast majority employing salt water filled implants that are sold without restriction. Consumer surveys predict that if the silicone breast implants return to the market, 200,000 women will have them installed in the 1st year. Silicone-gel breast implants began selling in 1962 and were banned in 1992 amid health fears. Research since then has shown no statistical correlation between silicone breast implants and cancer or auto-immune disease such as lupus. Some women will swear that their health deteriorated from the moment they had their implants placed, but this is anecdotal evidence. When researchers compare a large group of women with implants to an equally large group without them, no difference between the two groups is found in the number of women with cancer or autoimmune disease. Formation of excess scar tissue due to a foreign-body reaction is common.
If it is localized, it can cause traction and rippling effects in the appearance of the implant. If the scar tissue completely encircles the implant the condition is called capsular contraction.
These scars can bind the implant into an unnatural round shape, so that it appears the woman has a baseball stuck under the skin on her chest. This condition is more common with smooth-walled silicone implants, though it occurs to a lesser extent with saline implants as well. Implants placed behind the chest muscle have a much lower incidence of this problem.
Surgeons can sometimes break the scar tissue manually (which is not recommeded, as it can break the implant and void the manufacturer's warranty) , but often follow-up surgery is needed. The asthma drug Accolate has been used with some success to prevent and even reverse capsular contraction, though months of treatment may be required. Other possible complications include seroma (a collection of serous fluid), hematoma (blood), synmastia (breasts that appear to be fused in the center), bottoming out (implant slides too far down the chest),
double-fold ( the implant's outline does not corresspond to the natural breast crease), deflation (the implant breaks), tissue necrosis (localized death of tissue) and infection. How to Get a Loan When You Need One
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Joseph_Kenny]Joseph Kenny Life is full of unexpected events. No matter how hard you try to plan every aspect of your day, there is a good chance that something unexpected may arise. Many times, we are able to deal with certain unexpected events a lot easier than others. Other times, assistance from others is needed. If you find yourself or your family having car trouble or a medical emergency, you need may need financial assistance in the form of a loan. Obtaining a loan, whether it is for a new vehicle, unexpected medical bills, or for another personal reason, seems like it should be easy enough. Unfortunately, there are many individuals who do not know where to go to obtain a last minute loan. If you are in need of a last minute loan, you are encouraged to take a minute and consider your options. Acting on impulse may help you out in your current situation, but it can turn out worse for you in the long run. When you are in need of a last minute loan, one of the first places that you should go to is your bank. Many individuals dont even bother visiting their bank because most traditional banks take up to a week to approve a loan. If you regularly do business with a local bank, you are encouraged to fill out a loan application there and actually speak to a bank employee. You may find that after explaining your financial situation, your bank may put a rush on your loan application. It is a proven fact that many banks will go out of their way to assist one of their regular customers. If you are unable to obtain a quick loan from your bank, you may want to examine what online lenders can do for you. Online lenders can easily be found by performing a standard internet search. To fill out a loan application, you will need to provide important personal information. You are encouraged to know who you are dealing with before giving out this information. When searching for an online lender, you will want to make sure that their website is hosted on a secure website. Similar to local banks, you may find that online lenders differ in the amount of time it will take to process a loan application. Even if you need to have the money in your hand before the expected date of approval, you are still urged to fill out an online loan application. The dates provided by most lenders are only estimates; therefore, you never really know when your loan will be approved. The biggest mistake that many people make is obtaining a fast cash loan, otherwise known as a payday loan. These loans can easily be obtained online or at a storefront location. Once approved, you will often receive your money the same day. The only problem with fast cash loans is that you are often bombarded with fees. If you need to obtain a fast cash loan, it is important to familiarize yourself with these fees upfront. Doing so will ensure that you know how much money you will have to repay in the end. Another option that many individuals do not even think about is making alternative payment arrangements. If you need money to pay your utility bills, rent, car payment, or medical bills, you are encouraged to speak with the individual or company that you owe money to. You may find that your bill collector will give you a small extension before making a final attempt to collect the money. Bachelor Degree: Public Relations
By Michael Russell There are many ways to begin a career in public relations. Contrary to popular belief, people who are 'talkative' may not necessarily do well in this field. You need much more than the ability to speak articulately in a language to succeed in public relations. Apart from good language ability, you also need good written and communication skills, the ability to work with different groups of people with different needs and abilities, enthusiasm and initiative as well as the ability to work independently. While a bachelor degree specializing in public relations is not a must for most organizations, people who want to be involved in such work should have a communications, law, business or language qualification. Other than paper qualifications, bachelor degree graduates with some work experience in customer relations and client servicing will have an edge over others. Once you get the job, in order to advance your career, you need to keep abreast of the current news related to your industry, develop good working relations with the target news media, prepare good promotional materials and internal communications, represent the organization well to key groups as well as demonstrate self-confidence and enthusiasm for motivating people. Public relations is fast paced and at times unpredictable. Depending on the type of organization you work for or represent, certain events may happen that will throw your schedule out of the window. As a new bachelor degree graduate, you need to know how to learn on the job and adapt quickly to your working environment. There is normally simple training given so you need to demonstrate a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm and to ask for things to do. Public relations practitioners are required to do many things so you get to enjoy a lot of variety in your work. You will be meeting different people for different purposes and traveling extensively. However, you may need to work long or odd hours and perhaps even two to three weeks at a stretch when a deadline for a project draws near. When something goes wrong, you need to be able to think and act quickly to solve the problem. In public relations, damage control or crisis management is very much part and parcel of the work. Public relations involves many activities; hence, in a public relations undergraduate course, students will be exposed to activities like promotion, publicity, public affairs, research, graphics, advertising and marketing communications as well as mass media communication, public speaking, organizational behavior, integrated marketing communications, corporate communications, media law and ethics, media writing skills as well as consumer behavior and branding. Public relations practitioners work in service industries like public relations firms or consultancies, advertising agencies, healthcare organizations, educational institutions and government agencies while some consultants are self-employed Major employers for public relations practitioners include businesses, government agencies, universities, hospitals and other larger organizations that require their own in-house public relations department. There are also public relations agencies for consultancies that provide services to clients locally and internationally. Michael Russell

The Benefits Of Semi-Permanent Lip Makeup
By Jennifer Puffer Semi-permanent lip makeup has a wide range of appeal. In this process, color pigments are injected under the dermal layer to either reshape or color the lips. This is a process that appeals to many for a variety of reasons. Those with asymmetrical lips may opt for this treatment to even out their lips. Another reason to opt for a semi-permanent lip makeup procedure is as a matter of convenience and financial savings. Semi-permanent lip makeup can be very beneficial to those who were born with either thin or asymmetrical lips. They can benefit by having this procedure done to either create thicker lips or correct the asymmetry of their lips through subtle shading and the injection of color outside the lip line. This may be a very useful procedure for those who are self conscious about the size or shape of their lips. Another reason to opt for semi-permanent lip makeup is to apply slight color to the lips. As people begin to age, the once vibrant color of their lips often begins to fade. For this reason, individuals may choose to have semi-permanent lip makeup applied to make their lips appear healthier and more attractive. Also, those who are frustrated with the frequent reapplication of lip color that are required throughout the day and the cost of purchasing lip color on a regular basis may opt for a semi-permanent lip makeup procedure. 9 Packaging Trends That Will 'Connect' You With Consumers
By JoAnn Hines Todays consumer is a moving target. Choosing the right consumer and the right demographic to target is an important decision. Monitoring what is hot and whats not can dramatically influence a package designs success or failure. Package design is an integral way to connect with your customer. But do you clearly understand the needs and wants of these elusive markets? Understand the customer is critical.
The problem today is that one package may not satisfy the needs and requirements of all buyers. There are many niche markets out there and each one requires specialized packaging. So if you are targeting one of those, do your research first. What works for one target market may not work for another. So.... 1) Find out what package attributes appeal to the customer you are targeting. If it is a harried homemaker shopping for your product then convenience of use had better be at the top of the list. Those over 50 are seeking convenience too but issues like the size of print on the package and ease of use top their priority list. Make sure your package employs the characteristics that appeal to your target market. 2) Understand how the package will be used. Families no longer sit and eat a meal with everyone at the same time. There are special diet requirements or dieting in general in most households. Its not uncommon to serve different meals to different individuals. Package sizes will vary accordingly. EX: People who travel a lot buy sample or trial size packages because they are small and easy to deal with 3) Know your customers current buying trends. Several years ago, we went through the supersized phase. There are still a lot of supersized packages; however, buying trends are changing to smaller sizes in general. To package smaller does not mean less profit, in many cases it means more. Consumers are willing to pay a premium for convenience, ease of use and a smaller quantity. Remember the three premium baking potatoes in a package cost almost the price of a 5 lb bag. If you live with just one other person, do you really need 5 lbs of potatoes? 4) Keep abreast of new packaging technologies. Creative, new products have the advantage in the marketing world even if their technology is not new. Several years ago, Metedent took the world by storm with the duel aperture dispensing mechanism. Recently hosts of new cleaning products have revived interest in this type of dispensing. Look for innovate ways to combine two products into one package. 5) Watch where people shop. There is a shift from traditional retailers to new and innovative store formats. The convenience store, once considered a low-end marketer, has now transitioned into store that provides premium products at a premium price. This evolved from the hurry up and go mindset demonstrated in today's shopping habits. Recent studies are showing that consumers no longer make one big trip and stock up but make several trips a week and get just what is needed at the moment at the most easily accessible retail outlet.
EX: The grab and go cups of snack foods convenience stores are now offering. This category did not exist a couple of years ago. 6) Keep pace with "hot button" packaging issues. This includes legislation too. People do really care about the environment and the amount of excess packaging. There is a move afoot to expand the number of vegetable-based plastic materials used in food packaging. If packaging consumers give these products their endorsement, look for other new products to surface. Legislation can change packaging mandates overnight. There have been "bottle bills," surcharges and bans that prohibit the use of certain packages. EX: Several fast food companies are test marketing corn-based plastic packaging materials. Ex: Ban on juice boxes in Maine and aerosol cans in Chicago. 7) Security in packaging is becoming increasingly important. This will continue to come into focus as more people become concerned about product integrity. One major security scare could force everyone to change their packaging methods immediately. Look for new tamper evident and security devices that can be incorporated into your packaging. Cost efficiencies are now making many of these devices more affordable and will soon become mainstream. 8) Competition of various packaging materials is increasing. From the imports that are readily available to the merger and acquisition mania that is taking place, keep current on your chain of supply globalization. Certain products such as plastic bags that used to be the mainstay of American manufacturing have now gone offshore. Ethic diversity both her and abroad is demanding that all packaging be multi-lingual and people really dont care where the product packaging is manufactured. 9) External influence of power players. The big box retailers are driving packaging procedures and policies at retail. Mandates from these companies such as RFID tracking are in their infancy. This type of requirement could become mandatory overnight. If you want to do business with companies such as Home Depot and Wal-Mart, you will need to include the design and selection of your packaging materials as per their demands and others will follow suit. Remember, the customer depends upon you, the designer, as a resource. They expect you to keep up with packaging trends and technologies and provide the latest and greatest innovations the industry has to offer. If you cannot connect with the consumer through package design, do not expect your products to fly off the shelf. Got packaging problems? I can help. Small Bead, Big Power
By Fadwa Qasem Imagine that almost two-thirds of the worlds population use these small ambassadors of culture as part of their religious practices. Every culture, and every religion, believe that beads used for their particular form of meditation and prayer is uniquely their own. And, in many ways, they are quite right. It may well be that the first to use beads of any kind for reciting prayers and counting incantations were the Hindus of India or perhaps more specifically Buddhists, a sect which developed from Hinduism sometime around the 8th century B.C.E. Buddhists called their prayer beads Mala. Malas were made up of strands of 108 beads these were used by Monks, everyone elses prayer beads had strands of 30 to 40 beads only. The beads represent impurities which must overcome in order to reach the state of Nirvana. The beads themselves have a highly spiritual significance, as they were traditionally made from the seeds of the sacred Bodhi tree under which Budha is believed to have found enlightenment. The roughness of the beads is also important as it expresses the difficult road to Nirvana. The beads are not mobile as with later prayer beads, as they are knotted onto the base thread or rope. Christians have their rosaries. The word rosary comes from the Latin rosarium which means rose garden. In Catholicism, a rose represent perfection, thus the rosary expresses the idea of a permanent garden of prayer how fragrant a prayer! Usually rosaries contain 59 beads, 6 large and 53 small. They are arranged into five decades of ten small beads and one large bead each plus a pendant of one large and three small beads that terminates in a cross. The beads are usually threaded on to wire pins, which are linked together to form the complete rosary. Muslims have a subha which means to exalt. Each subha usually has 99 beads, or fewer beads whose multiples are 99. The beads are used to recite the 99 names/attributes of God, or they are used to recite verses from the Quran and prayers. The beads themselves can be made of many materials, from silver to semiprecious stones, glass even plastic, although the truly pious may have specific preferences. The prayer beads end with an elongated bead and a tassel of colorful threads or silver, and the beads usually move freely over the base thread. Even ropes with knots were used to aid prayer, as well as simply using the fingers of ones own hand. But, whether beads were made of seeds, wood, animal teeth, bone and ivory, perfumed wood such as sandal wood, olive-tree wood, or formed from rose petal pulp and spices, (I have even seen prayer beads made up human sculls of obviously deceased Buddhist practitioners), running the beads through your fingers, the sensation and feels of the beads, seems to have a great soothing feeling. In the end, and each in their own way, everyone seems to come to the same conclusion: Arent beads just great?! Fadwa Qasem

Wedding Gift Ideas
By Jennifer Bailey A marriage is a joyous moment in the life of two individuals. A couple shares this beautiful personal moment with their near and dear ones, who rejoice in their happiness. A wedding gift is a tangible depiction of the feelings of the giver for the couple. A gift has to be carefully chosen, keeping the couples individual tastes, likes and dislikes in mind, if it is intended to serve its purpose. Nothing is more distasteful and insulting than an inconsiderately given gift. A gifts value is not determined by its monetary value, but it must communicate the givers thought appropriately and adequately. While the market abounds in numerous gift options and alternatives, selecting the right gift for the couple can be a challenge sometimes. While one can overhaul the market, surf the net and burn a hole in the purse, choosing the perfect gift requires some thinking and a little homework. A giver should always strive to give something unique and different. Personalized gifts always stand out and make a personal statement on behalf of the giver. A special memento, decorative crystal, or a paired watch with the couples names engraved in it along with the wedding date is something memorable for the wedding couple. For very close relatives, a hand-made scrapbook complete with family pictures, or a family tree platter with hand-painted pictures of family members along with their names, signature photo quilts, or customized ceramic plates with the couples pictures and wedding dates etched on it are a few ideal gift options. In case of a hard-core golf fan, one can give a golf set with the couples names engraved on it. A Bible with the couples names and wedding dates engraved on it is an ideal gift for a spiritually inclined couple. It is necessary to be aware and informed about a couples interests, hobbies, tastes and the like. A gift can be given based on this kind of information. Romantic gifts like photo pillows with the couples portraits on it can also be given. One can also give gift certificates, home dcor items, classic gift items like crystal and silverware, or various wedding mementos like a polymer clay image or metal candles, just right for the mantel and keepsakes. The choice of exchanging gifts for each other rests on the bride and the groom. Couples can exchange framed love poems, engraved jewelry or even unconventional items like a vintage car, for those who can afford it. A thoughtful gift certificate to a relaxing spa or a recreational resort is just the right way for the bride or bridegroom to express their gratitude and love for their parents. It is the thought that matters, and mere framed poetry or a handwritten letter to the parent is also as valuable, if not more. Parents can give bridal showers, a party to acquaint the couple to the family, or some personalized gift items, including gift certificates. Thank-you gifts need not be expensive, but should cater to individual taste. It should be given according to the kind of relationship one shares with the guests. Wedding Gifts provides detailed information on Wedding Gifts, Wedding Anniversary Gifts, Wedding Gift Ideas, Personalized Wedding Gifts and more. Is Your Networking Not Working
By Debbie LaChusa I was at a networking event recently and this young woman came up to me and introduced herself. Using typical networking etiquette, I asked her "So, what do you do?" Well, that turned out to be the wrong question to ask her! She proceeded to tell me all about herself and her business, not once stopping to take a breath or give me, or the other person I had been talking to the chance to say a word. When she finished, she handed me her business card and said, It was nice meeting you," and walked away. I felt like I had just watched a very bad 60-second commercial for her business. And boy was I NOT interested. The sad thing was, she was a massage therapist, and I was an ideal client for her - I get a massage once a month and have for years. Too bad she didn't take the time to find that out. Definitely a missed opportunity for at least a more interesting conversation, and potentially a new client. And the kicker was, she asked for my business card, but I NEVER heard from her after the event! So what just happened? I'll tell you. She spent her valuable time and money to attend this event. And, she did everything she thought she was supposed to do. She went around meeting lots of people. She told those people all about herself and her business. She handed out lots of business cards. She collected lots of business cards. And then she went home, and expected her business to grow as a result. Wrong! If you network this way, you may as well save your time and money. Because you're probably not going to see results. I believe you must approach networking the same way you approach any other form of marketing ... You must use the Sharp-Shooter Approach Select networking events that are a good match for you and your business. Events with attendees who are either your ideal clients, people likely to refer your ideal clients, or like-minded business people you could partner with. Go with the intention of making a few strong connections. It's about quality, not quantity. And always, always, always, follow-up! And, not just an "it was nice to meet you" email. Ask yourself how you can help the people you've met. Can you refer a client to them? Can you suggest a win-win partnership? Ask yourself what step you can take to start to build a relationship with each person you meet. Here are four questions to help you evaluate YOUR Networking behavior: 1) Are the events you attend filled with your ideal clients, potential partners, or like-minded solo-preneurs? (HINT: don't waste time at events that aren't a good match for your business. Targeting is important.) 2) Are you focusing on meeting a few key people at each event, or are you counting the number of business cards you can pocket? (HINT: Quality over quantity wins in the networking game.) 3) When you meet people at networking events, do you spend the whole time talking about yourself and your business, or do you spend time getting to know those you meet? (HINT: Be a good listener. It's more interesting and people will love you for it.) 4) Are you following up with those you meet after the event, offering value to them, or suggesting ways you might be able to work together? (HINT: Consistent, meaningful follow up is the key.) Evaluate your networking strategy so you can be sure your networking activities are a valuable part of your marketing plan and

Hoodia Diet Pills Reviewed
By Ian Mason There's a lot of competition in the diet supplement industry. With so many options to choose from how does someone know which one to buy? Read on, dear reader, as we have put the top supplements to the test. We have ranked them in order of their effectiveness. Phentramin - Coming in at number one for a number of reasons, Phentramin is the most effective diet supplement we have ever seen. Unlike many supplements, Phentramin does exactly what it says it will do- and it does so with no or little side effects. Phentramin is taken via two doses (one in the early morning and early afternoon) and integrates seamlessly into anyone's routine. The pills themselves are easy to swallow and didn't leave us with any bad breath after we took them. Value: 4.5/5 Effectiveness: 4.5/5 Availability: Online Side Effects: Little/None. Tru Hoodia Complex - A good value and a good product. Full benefits took a bit longer than Phentramin, but at the end of the test period True Hoodia Complex did its job. We saw little side effects. Though we'd recommend Phentramin, True Hoodia Complex will work if you are unable to find Phentramin. Tru Hoodia Complex is taken before each meal. At three meals a day this gives you a 20 day supply. Though simple enough to take, we imagine that many people would simply forget to take the pills with them when they went out or while they were at work. Value: 4.5/5 Effectiveness: 4/5 Availability: Online Side Effects: Little/Few Fast-Action Hoodia Diet - Fast-Action Hoodia Diet combines the main ingredient in all Hoodia pills (Hoodia Gordonii) with a green tea extract to create a supplement that controls your appetite while giving you more energy to boot. This product should be taken before each meal (up to three times a day). As well, the manufacturer warns against taking Fast-Action Hoodia Diet in the late evening as it contains natural caffeine from the green tea. Value: 3/5 Effectiveness: 3.5/5 Availability: Online Side Effects: Restlessness Hoodia Gordonii by LA Naturals - This one is different from the other products reviewed because it is taken as a drop as opposed to a pill. It comes in the form of a medicine dropper, and you put 30 drops into a large glass of water approximately 20 minutes or so before your meal. It does not contain any other ingredients or additives- it is only an appetite suppressant. We saw good results with this one, but there are other products that offer the same results (and often a bit more). If increased energy isn't a big concern for you then this may be what you're looking for. However, we ranked this one last because Phentramin and Tru Hoodia Complex did what this product does - and more - while also offering other benefits. Value: 3/5 Effectiveness: 3/5 Availability: Online Side Effects: Little/None

Where Did All the Low-Carb Diets Go?
By Mike Singh With all the emphasis on low-carb diets that made the news for so long, it seems that the emphasis on low-carb is not as prevalent as it once was. Why is this? Where did the low-carb diets go? The popularity of Atkins and the South Beach diets may come and go, but the bottom line is that any successful diet--whether low-carb, low-fat, body type, blood type, or whatever the gimmick--has one thing in common. It cuts calories. Low-carb diets cut calories by reducing carbohydrate intake. Low fat diets reduce calories by reducing fats. Another problem with fad diets is that everyone has something different to say, which only adds confusion. Many dieters are so bombarded with conflicting information that they no longer know who or what to believe. When the fad diets are written by doctors, as both Atkins and South Beach are, it can be even more confusing. The trick is to get through the diet hype to the real information that is useful. In the simplest terms, the only way to lose weight is to take fewer calories in than are used. In order to lose a pound of fat in a week, daily caloric intake must be reduced by 500 calories. This can be accomplished through food intake or in a combination of reducing food intake and increasing exercise. However, even when you are reducing calories, you need to eat a healthful balance of foods to get the nutrients you need. This is where a lot of the confusion comes in. Low-carb diets restrict carbohydrate intake. Some restrict carbohydrates a great deal, while other diets are more flexible. However, carbohydrates are not only simple sugars and breads. Fruits and vegetables fall into the carbohydrate category, and both contain a wide range of healthy nutrients. The body needs proteins, carbohydrates, and fats in order to function. How much the body needs of each of these will continue to be debated. The U.S. RDA recommends fat intake between twenty to thirty-five percent of total intake, proteins between ten and thirty-five percent, and carbohydrates between forty-five and sixty-five percent. Making healthful choices within each category is essential for overall health. Your choices can also have an effect on your mental outlook as well, because if you are watching caloric intake, you will be able to eat more of low-calorie foods, which can help reduce feelings of deprivation. Often, healthier choices are lower in total calories. In general, the following tips can help you make better choices: * Limit saturated fats
* Choose a variety of fruits and vegetables
* Eat whole-grain foods as opposed to refined flours
* Eat lean meats instead of high-fat meats Exercise is also a key component to a healthy lifestyle. Most fad diets recommend some type of exercise, but many do not put a great deal of emphasis on exercising. The fact is that it is possible to lose weight with diet alone. However, diet combined with exercise is the most effective weight loss strategy, and some type of exercise is simply good for health. Exercise can help make your heart stronger, bones, and muscles stronger, all of which make even daily activities much easier. While there is no doubt that a regular exercise routine can be highly beneficial, many studies indicate that short bouts of exercise throughout the day can be just as effective as a more structured exercise program. Squeezing in just ten minutes a day in increments can be beneficial. Also, consider that exercise comes in many forms. You do not need a home gym full of equipment; even vacuuming can provide benefit. Think of little ways you can add extra activity to your day. * Park a few blocks from work and walk the rest of the way.
* Take the stairs instead of the elevator.
* Increase the intensity at which you do household chores.
* Take a few minutes to dance around the house.
* Go for a walk (all you need is a pair of shoes). In short, fad diets such as Atkins and South Beach are tempting and promise fast results. If you want the most effective weight-loss strategy, reduce calories and add exercise. In addition, while rapid weight loss is always desirable, losing a pound or two per week is a safe goal; more than this can be dangerous. Eat a wide variety of healthy foods to maintain nutrients, and remember that a healthy lifestyle is the long-term goal. How to Conquer the GMAT - Tips on How to Succeed
By Kristie Lorette Some colleges and universities require you to take the GMAT exam before applying to graduate school. Your GMAT score can be a factor that is considered for acceptance to certain colleges and universities. There are other colleges and universities that do not require you to take the GMAT. If you do have to take the GMAT here are some helpful tips on conquering the GMAT. First of all, it is important for you to know what will be on the test, so that you know what to expect and can properly prepare for the exam. The first part of the GMAT consists of an Analytical Writing Assessment where you will be given two essay questions and topics that must be completed. You will be given a total of 60 minutes to complete both essays. The second section of the GMAT is the quantitative section of the exam. You will be given 37 multiple-choice questions that deal with problem solving questions. You will have 75 minutes to complete this section. The final section covered on the GMAT is the verbal section. You will be given 75 minutes to complete 41 multiple-choice questions dealing with reading comprehension, critical reasoning and sentence correction. Now that you have an idea of what is included on the exam, you will need to take the necessary steps to prepare for the exam. Since everyone prepares for major tests and exams differently, you will need to follow a course of action that will allow you to best prepare for the exam. #1 Make a plan. Whether you need to take a GMAT preparation course or you can study on your own with a GMAT practice exam book, choose the way that you are going to go about studying for the exam. #2 Create a schedule. You need to start preparing for the GMAT exam 1 or 2 months before you are scheduled to sit for the test. This means that you will need to set aside a certain amount of time each day to devote to studying for your exam. Allot yourself enough time in these study sessions to complete the areas that need to be covered in order to keep you on schedule. #3 Practice, practice, and then practice some more. Set up simulated practice test sessions. Use practice tests from books or online. Set a kitchen timer or your watch to simulate the real test experience. Do not cheat. Take the test seriously. Pretend like you are taking the test for real and see how you do. Go through the questions and answers on the exam after you have self-graded it. This will help you to get a grasp on what areas you have mastered and what areas you still need to work on. Go back to the areas that you still need to work on and review, practice and study until you have mastered those areas as well. So now you know the format of the test, what is going to be on the test, and how to study for the test. Now you need to know what to do while you are actually taking the test to totally conquer it. #1 Read the questions carefully. Do not rush through the exam because you think that you know it like the back of your hand. Be sure to carefully read each question and make sure you know what the question is asking. Missing just one word can totally throw you off from the correct answer. #2 Make an educated guess. If you do not know the answer to a question, then make an educated guess. An educated guess means narrowing down the choices given as much as possible. If you can narrow down the choices to two options, then you now have a 50/50 chance of getting the answer correct. #3 Manage your time. Since the test is timed, you will need to be able to manage your time effectively so that you have enough time to complete each question on the exam. Don't spend too much time on any one question that will cause you to not have enough time to answer the remaining questions. #4 Check your work. When you have completed a section and you have time left before the end of that portion of the exam, go back and check your answers. First, make sure that you have answered all of the questions. Revisit the questions that you were having trouble with and recheck your answer choice now that you have a few more minutes to spend on it. Relax, take a deep breath, and prepare for your GMAT exam. The GMAT covers material that you should already know or have some knowledge of. When you are studying, you are not really studying to learn new material. You are really refreshing yourself with material that you already know. By taking the necessary steps to prepare for the exam and preparing yourself for the test on the actual day of the exam, you will have everything you need to conquer the GMAT. Don't Forget to Baptize 'em
By Michael Tummillo As a guy with a license to marry and bury, weddings, baptisms and baby dedications are among my favorite ministerial things to do. I was once talking to a woman in the workplace who was excitedly telling me about a girl whom she had been discipling. Her enthusiasm disappeared when she added that she only wished she could be the one to baptize the girl. Of course, the woman was feeling bound by the belief that, because she wasn't a minister in her denomination - or worse - because she was "merely" a woman, the odds of that taking place were slim to none. Au contraire, amigo! There's nothing more that I love as a licensed minister than to step back and allow all the non-licensed "priests and kings" to enjoy these opportunities to minister. I STRONGLY encouraged that woman to talk with the girl and see how she would feel about being baptized by her. I reminded her that, when Jesus told His disciples to go and make disciples, baptizing them as they went, he was talking to US, too, and wasn't excluding anybody. After all, Galatians 3;28 reminds us, "There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus." I've baptized people in rivers, swimming pools, bathtubs and Jacuzzi's and in church baptismals. You can baptize, too. Jesus commissioned ALL of us to do that very thing. Before I was ever ordained, I baptized my own kids in the tub. Guess what? It counted! WHAT DOES "BAPTISM" MEAN?? The word comes from the Greek "baptizo" which means to dip, to dye, to wet, to immerse. I see no biblical example of Jesus being baptized as an infant, nor do I see any examples of His disciples or apostles being baptized as babies either. Since Jesus said, "I came as an example," I'm going to take that to mean that, if He waited until adulthood and until He was 100% ready, we should do the same. CAN WE BAPTIZE BABIES? Considering there is not a single Biblical illustration or reference to a baby being baptized, I have decided against the practice. However, all things are permissible, as Paul said, even though they're not all beneficial (1 Cor 6:12). I have to ask...why would anyone do that to a child, especially if it's not benefiting them at all? Baptism does not save anybody (the blood of Jesus washes away our sins, according to 1 John 1:7, not chlorinated water). So, with that option eliminated, consider why on earth anyone would immerse an infant in water over its head for the sake of ritual. Who would DO such a thing? That's called attempted murder. Therefore, if baptism doesn't save, and it makes no sense to immerse a baby in water over its head, what's the point? If your denomination traditionally sprinkles water on a baby's head, and water doesn't save and sprinkling doesn't qualify as a biblically-defined baptism, why would anyone submit to or take part in a ritualistic "forehead washing" either? Has baptism been reduced to initiation into a religious sect? It's GOT to be more than some weird form of Christian hazing. Let's not check our brains at the door, shall we? DOES BAPTISM SAVE US? No, I don't believe so. Neither does a Profession of Faith or a Sinner's Prayer, while were on the subject. Better theologians than I have been arguing the matter for years while thousands of perfectly dry people are going to Hell. Acts 16:30-31 and Romans 10:9-10 are pretty clear to me. I think all Christians will agree that we were all saved by the blood of Christ shed at the cross. Not by water. Not by good deeds. Not by religion. Not by church affiliation. It is interesting to note that Jesus - the One who said He came as an example, never baptized a soul. "The Pharisees heard that Jesus was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John, although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but His disciples" (John 4:1-2). If water baptism were necessary for salvation, wouldn't Jesus have been busily about baptizing people rather than feeding them loaves and fishes or preaching sermons? Jesus presented Himself to the Jews as their Messiah with signs and wonders, but He did not baptize them. The Apostle Paul, himself, only baptized a few. "Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into the name of Paul? I am thankful that I did not baptize any of you except Crispus and Gaius, so no one can say that you were baptized into my name. (Yes, I also baptized the household of Stephanas; beyond that, I don't remember if I baptized anyone else.) For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the Gospel -- not with words of human wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power" (1 Corinthians 1:13-17). Those who teach that baptism is necessary for salvation overlook this statement of Paul's. If water baptism were necessary for salvation, would not Paul have made water baptism a central theme of his ministry, too? Instead, he taught the "baptism of the Holy Spirit," which occurs when one is born again and it is a spiritual identification as the believer is placed IN Christ. "For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free" (1 Corinthians 12:13). The Holy Spirit baptizes us, or identifies us, as a child of God and then seals us and sets us apart to the "day of redemption" or the day when our redemption will be completed and we see Him "face to face." "And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption" (Ephesians 4:30). So, is baptism necessary for salvation? If the question is concerning water baptism, the answer is no. We are not saved by ritual or works but by "grace through faith." "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith -- and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God -- not by works, so that no one can boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, I don't believe water baptism ever saved anyone, despite the standard verses used by many to support that position. I baptized 16 kids from a gang called The Crypts one day, some of them glassy-eyed and smelling like marijuana. Saved by water baptism or merely publicly bathed while wearing white gowns? While discipling those kids, only a few ever bore any fruit and repented from that lifestyle. On the other hand, the baptism of the Spirit is necessary for salvation and that has nothing whatever to do with water and it is not something we do for ourselves. His indwelling presence is God's free gift to us at the moment we put our faith in Jesus and are born again. "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God..." (Rom 8;16). Great damage has been done throughout the Christian world by the traditions of various denominations in regard to this subject (Matthew 16:6), making the Word of God of no effect. Christians have so many convictions regarding what it means to "be saved" that it has led us to focus too much on HOW to be saved and has us trying to spread a divided, unbiblical "Gospel of Salvation" rather than the Gospel of the Kingdom, as Jesus and His disciples did. Our variois salvation techniques have done little more than to sow confusion in many people, Christians and non-Christians alike, over the generations. SO, WHY BAPTIZE AT ALL? For starters, King Jesus decreed that we should. He commissioned us to do so (Matthew 28:19). Secondly, He was baptized and we are to follow His example (John 13:15). That's good enough for me. There are over 30 references in the New Testament to some form of "following me" or "following Him" and, as followers of Christ, I contend that this actually means we are to follow Him. Quite simple. No matter how excited grandma was the day Uncle Joe got dunked, fact is, he probably did it just to shut her up. His devious plan probably worked, too. She immediately set her sights on cousin Billy Bob at that point. As the Scripture says, "Man looks at the outside, God looks at the heart," (1 Sam 16:7). Regardless of the religious hoops we jump through, God's not interested in our performance or adherence to manmade religious rituals. He wants our hearts. In baptism, the washing away of sin is implied, not merely as a clean of our slates but as a removal of the obstacle to peace and reconciliation with God. As a reenactment of both the Exodus of Israel and Resurrection of Jesus, it bears witness to the God who has rescued us and raises us to new life. It is nothing anyone can earn or merit, but is solely the rescuing work of God, motivated by His love. It is an act of obedience and serves as a public witness to anyone watching. Though they will eventually observe the transformation of a life submitted to Jesus, some will see baptism as an outward sign of something going on deep within the one being baptized and may experience the planting of the seed of conviction. I have some basic "Baptism How-To's" pertaining to the baptismal procedure I've used for years. They're available to anyone who asks and come with a short teaching that can be shared with any baptismal candidate. Samsung E900 - Sophisticated Simplicity
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Ben_Bradley]Ben Bradley The latest fashion solution from Samsung, the E900 draws a lot of comparison with the LG Chocolate. The Samsung E900 is less complicated in design but is much more interesting functionality-wise. This slider sports the complete sleek look with its sophisticated black glossy plastic casing and glass-like touch-sensitive control pad. The large TFT display remains largely invisible when in standby mode but lights up brightly with 256K colours. The sleek slider from Samsung includes a long feature list that put other fashion phones to shame. The phone supports tri-band GSM network and have 80 Mb embedded memory which is expandable up to 2GB with microSD memory cards. You can view your Word, Excel, Power-point and PDF files with the Document viewer. And if you think the numbers are too large for the display, watch them on your TV screen with TV output. The Samsung E900 have an integrated 2.0 megapixel camera with CMOS image sensor. Armed with digital zoom and flash, the camera captures all that is expected and unexpected in accurate and vibrant colours. It also supports video recording so that you can shoot, save and share live events around you. The handset also includes a media player that plays MP3/AAC/ACC+/WMA formats in high quality sound. Connectivity in any form with the Samsung E900 is fast and effortless. High Internet speed powered by Class 10 GPRS/EDGE is comparable with the broadband. Browsing the Internet for any content or information is painless with the WAP 2.0/xHTML browser. Importantly the phone can also be used as a modem in case you want to access Internet from your PC or laptop. Get connected with any compatible external device for fast transfer and sharing of files via Bluetooth and USB. Work hard or chill out, look good while doing it with Samsung E900. Why Ask?
By Mark E. Baker Matthew 6:7 "But when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words.
8. "Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. Here Jesus was teaching on the subject of prayer. This was His lead in to the Lords prayer.
Before He taught us what to pray He also told us how not to pray. We are told not to pray repetitively. He said they think they will be heard for their many words, or volume of words. He said do not be like them. However we see that many Christians do this very thing by praying the same thing over and over thinking that they will be heard because of their repetition. Lets take heed to the words of Christ and realize this is not how we should pray. The question I want to ask is why would we need to ask if our Father already knows the things we need? He knows all things. He knows the beginning from the end. Why ask? Many Christians say that God will take care of things, but I truly dont know where
they get that idea or what Scripture they base that on. The word of God has much to say about asking God in faith. I also know that many Christians dont know that God has asked us to ask Him, and that He has given us instruction on how to ask, or what to ask. The Apostle James said we do not have because we do not ask. James 4:2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. Throughout the Word of God we see instances where we are told to ask. We have to ask in order to receive. Have you ever stopped to consider that there are spiritual reasons for this? There are reasons for everything in Gods Word. He has set things up His way. It is not a case where God can not do something but a case where He established things in a certain way, and He will not violate His Word for anyone. It is up to us to get understanding into His Word and learn to walk in it. We may not totally understand the why and why nots, but whether we have understanding or not, the reasons are still there and we must follow Gods ways in orders to get Gods results. Lets look to Gods Word for answers. Genesis 1:26. Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.'' 27. So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. In the beginning God gave Adam dominion over the Earth. Adam sinned and because of this relinquished that authority. He no longer had that authority that God gave him. Satan became the God of this world. Adam had the legal right to do what he did. Because he had the legal right God could not just step in and undo the mess that Adam created. Adams dominion and authority was given to him by God Himself. Adam then turned that legal God given authority over to Satan. Satan had legally become the God of this world. At this point man was lost. He lost His relationship as a child of God, he lost his fellowship with God and he lost the authority that had been bestowed upon him. All seemed hopeless. We have to understand that God does not break His Word for anybody. He would not step across that line and undo what had happened. Legally he could not do that. He had to find a legal way. Through a Covenant with Abraham God got his seed back into the Earth, and established an everlasting Covenant with that seed. Everything we have and are is by and through that seed. Ive said all of this to make the point that we have to follow the outline of this Covenant to legally receive the promises of God. Part of legally receiving is to ask. I think it would be beneficial to describe what a covenant is so that the importance of this will be understood. A covenant is a legal binding agreement between two parties. Both parties must agree to the terms of the covenant before they enter into it. Both parties will agree to uphold and fulfill their end of the covenant according to the conditions stipulated within the terms of that covenant. Most covenants will have several parts to it. There is the physical act of cutting the covenant, and the actual outline of the covenant itself, or the legal binding agreement that both parties have already agreed to. Within the framework of this there will be blessings for keeping the covenant and curses that will happen if either party were to break the covenant. The curse would often be death along with the death of all of their immediate family. So you can readily see that entering into such an agreement was not something done lightly. It was a most serious thing to do. You can see Gods Covenant set forth in the 28th chapter of Deuteronomy.
It would be beneficial to read this to see the true seriousness in our Covenant with God and to know our rights and legal standing. Up until Christ came it was impossible to keep our end of the agreement. Our sinful nature just wouldnt let us do it. Thank God He did come. Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree''), 14 that the blessing of Abraham might come upon the Gentiles in Christ Jesus, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. I am so very grateful to our Lord Jesus Christ for taking the full punishment of that curse for us so that we may receive the blessings of Abraham. We have been blessed with the full blessing outlined in Abrahams Covenant. A very many Christians dont know the terms of their Covenant, and because of this can never receive these promises of God. We know that God is honorable and will always uphold His end of the Covenant He established. However in order to be partakers of it we must know what our legal rights are. We also know that Satan is still the God of this word, but the authority he once had has been stripped from him. If we dont know that we can not walk in the victory that has been purchased for us. We have to know the promises in order to take advantage of them.
I hope you see the importance of what is being said here. We now have the legal right to ask God according to the promises set forth in this awesome Covenant. Jesus told us Himself, we could ask the Father in His name. John 14:12-14 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything in My name, I will do it." God wants us to be blessed and happy. He would not have told us to ask if He didnt want us to get would He? We have to take the steps Hes telling us to take in order to receive the Covenant promises by faith. Jesus said all authority in Heaven and in Earth has been given to Him. He delegated that authority to us. So, because we are His legal representatives here on the Earth we have been given the legal right to go to God the Father in Jesus name and ask according to
His will. (His will is set forth in the New Covenant.) When we do that God is legally obligated to fulfil His Word. Some people dont like to hear this, but remember that God is the one who initiated this Covenant and also fulfilled it. Without it we would have no legal standing before God. We would be lost and without hope.
He is the one telling us to ask Him. He loves to see us blessed. Jesus said in Johns Gospel John 16:24 "Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. Jesus said until now because we now have the right to go to the Father in His name and ask according to the words of Jesus, we will then receive. Now when we ask according to His Covenant we can legally expect to be heard by God and receive what we asked of Him. 1 John 5:14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
15. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him. You can't get any plainer than that. When we ask anything according to His will He hears us. Some people say I dont know if God heard me or not. According to His Word He hears us when we pray according to His will. This means He hears us whether we feel like it or not. Since we know He hears us, we know we have the petitions or requests that we have asked of Him. We can confidently ask. The reason we can do it is because we have been given the legal privilege of doing so. If you are a born again Christian you have this privilege. What an awesome privilege this is. Remind Him of His Covenant. Ask according His Word and be confident that He hears you, and that you have the request you have made of Him. Glory to God. Amen The first thing you must do is to ask Jesus to become your Lord and Savior? Do you want to be a joint heir with Christ?
If so, I urge you to earnestly pray the following prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. Your word says, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. (Jn.6:37), So I know You wont cast me out, but You take me in, And I thank you for it. You said in your Word, "whoever calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.'' (Ro. 10:13). I am calling on Your name, So I know You have saved me now, You also said, that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made to salvation. (Ro.10:9,10). I believe in my heart that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe He was raised from the dead for my justification. And I confess Him now as my Lord, Because Your Word says, with the heart one believes to righteousness and I do believe with my heart, I have now become the righteousness of God in Christ. (2 Cor. 5:21), And I am saved! Thank You, Lord!
I can now truthfully say, I see myself as a born again child of God
Glory to God!!!! Amen. I was raised Catholic and was born again at the age of 17. I received God's call into ministry at the age of 19 and began to prepare for ministry. I graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in 1979. The Lord has called me to teach. My desire is to help others come to a deeper understanding of the truth and I have started a web site for this purpose called The Olive Branch; Please visit us for more free studies and resources to help you on your journey.

How to Bargain for the Best Equity Rates
By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Talbert_Williams]Talbert Williams To keep up with the rates of equity loans, you should read any information available to you. If you
have the Internet, you can go online and read surveys, which will guide you to links that will
provide updates on equity loans and rates. For example, the rates on equity change on set intervals,
and this interval change includes rates of 7.92% high and 4.91% low. This piece of information
may not seem pertinent, but if you consider that equity loans have interest and capital for repayment,
you will see the value in the statistics. Furthermore, if you are applying for equity loans, you can point out to a lender offering higher
interest rates that the current ratings are slightly lower. This may open up the door to lower rates of
interest; otherwise, you can excuse your self and find lenders with competing rates. You will also need to consider points on loans, locks, rates, fees, and so forth when considering a
loan. Many equity lenders today are offering loans with no closing costs or other upfront fees.
However, if you read the fine print or terms, you will notice that you will need to take out a loan
amount possibly steeper than you can afford to receive no closing costs. Other fees may apply regardless of the claim there are no upfront fees. The key is to carefully
research any potential loan opportunity, since researching can help you find loans that may not have
upfront fees, including closing costs; and you could get the amount needed versus the amount the
lender expects of you. Finally, loans are a big step and taking the steps to the loan requires the
borrower to make decisions with caution since the home is at stake. About The Author

Can An Atheist Believe In God?
By Steven Gillman What makes an atheist? Is he or she one who says "God absolutely does not exist"? Certainly most atheists I know wouldn't say that. Unfortunately, like most religious people, most dictionaries misrepresent atheism, with definitions like "Denial of the existence of God." What Atheists Believe 1. Evidence and experience are the proper basis for any beliefs. 2. Those who make an assertion have the responsibility to prove it. If a person has no experience to convince him, and you can't prove the existence of God, he has no reason to believe God exists. He also has no reason to say God doesn't exist, if he cannot prove this belief. Why would he waste time trying to "prove" the non-existence in reality of a concept as nebulous as God? If someone said a blue snake in the sky ruled the universe, you wouldn't believe it, and you would be an "aserpentist," but you wouldn't start gathering evidence to "prove" that no invisible blue snake was up there, would you? You might wonder, since atheism is simply non-belief due to unconvincing evidence, rather than an opposite belief, where does this leave agnostics? The most honest classification would be as a type of atheist. They hold open the the possibility of a god (as does any rational atheist if presented with good evidence), but since they don't actually believe in God, they are atheistic, aren't they? Perhaps those who call themselves agnostics are just afraid of the other "A" word. Of course, words refer to something, even if it is only to ideas. In that sense, we can say God exists as an idea, and a powerful one at that. Some atheists even like various versions of this idea. God, the idea, may be the cause of wars and horrible crimes, but he (it) can also be an uplifting or at least useful concept. We might refer to these types of ideas as "useful lies," because regardless of their truth or falsity, they can be beneficial as "operating principles." The idea that everything happens for a reason, for example, doesn't have to be true for it to be a useful belief or operating principle. It can certainly get you looking for the lessons and other values to be found in bad situations, rather than getting depressed. We can say then that God exists, at least as a common belief, or "useful lie." This idea may even do some good in the world. What about His existence in reality? Actually, even an atheist can believe in that - the moment God comes down and shakes his hand. Steve Gillman has been exploring new ideas for decades. Email Marketing List - The #1 Myth And How You Can Avoid The Traps Involved When Starting Your Own
By Desmond Owens Let's face it without your own email marketing list you are leaving money on the table every single day. This article will cover some of the important points as far as email marketing is concerned. Let's get started. #1 Myth - I can email whoever I want whenever. That statement right there is far from the truth. If you want to send out your email to your clients or prospects they must first request for your information. There was I time when it wasn't like that but due to the mad spammers sending all kind of unwanted email flooding your inbox the rules of marketing online with email have changed. If you do that these days expect a hefty fine and a court date. "Ok, now I see that I need to have my prospects permission how do they let you know?" Simple, on your website you will have a optin form. An optin form is a form on your website where your clients or prospects can leave their Name, and email address. Once they fill out the form they will get a confirmation email to their inbox. Whoa whoa whoa, slow down. Ok I know what your thinking. "Confirmation email" where does that come into play? Glad you asked. Before we talk about that lets talk about an Autoresponder. An autoresponder will be your best friend if your looking to build your email marketing list online. Another way to look at a Autoresponder is to think of it as your local Post Office but with a twist. The Autoresponder will hold your email message that you want to send out, now you tell the autoresponder "Hey Mr.Autoresponder I would like this message to go out to my list after the 2nd day they signed up to my list. Now instead of you having to email these prospects the autoresponder will do it for you, allowing you more time to focus on your marketing. Now lets Review whats happened to far. Your prospect visited your site and filled out a form. Your autoresponder which is prefilled with your messages (another way for saying emails), sends out a message to that prospect asking if they want to receive email from you. They say yes. The autoresponder will then send out the preselected message out to your email marketing list. That's it, pretty simple don't you think? Now you could go ahead with an autoresponder and email your clients and prospects but after you get 1,000 people requesting information it will take too much of your time and energy. To recap as you can see having a email marketing list plays a important role to increasing your profits online and without it your selling yourself short. Hopefully this article help shed some light on the topic of list building. Desmond Owens is the proud owner of http://www-makeeasymoneyonline.blogspot.com he is currently
